Evaluate Your Life and Be Better For It

It’s officially the holiday season, a time where everything just seems to speed up. For some of us, it’s an exciting time as we look back on all we’ve accomplished throughout the year. For the rest of us, it’s a time of uncertainty.  Where, even though our lives are moving full speed ahead, our goals struggle to keep pace. If you haven’t achieved as much as you would have thought by this point, don’t be too hard on yourself. This is the perfect time to re-evaluate your priorities and put yourself on the right path for not only the remainder of the fourth quarter, but also the year to come.

All BIG goals begin with pinpointing our Big Why. It’s the motor that pushes us forward, and identifying what that is works to our advantage. If you know your purpose, you can live the days and weeks ahead, prioritizing tasks that are necessary, and working toward achieving our biggest goals. As a bonus, some of the monotony that may exist as we work toward our goals just don’t seem as boring when we’re chipping away at our Big Why.

Has your reason for getting out of bed each day changed or do the same things that motivated you earlier this year still motivate you? It’s okay to stop and reflect on this question for a minute. It’s a key piece of the formula for achievement.  Don’t expect to have the same motivation as your co-worker, neighbor, or even your own family members. Everyone’s Big Why’s are different. For some, it may be having the freedom to travel the world while others may be driven by providing for their family. Yet others may have entirely other motivations. Anything goes in the world of Big Whys! If you find yourself banging your head against the wall, trying to identify your Big Why, our upcoming workshop will help walk you through the process. Signing up for this 2-day workshop is a great way to get hands-on and in-person clarity about what you actually want to achieve in life and the type of impact you want to make on the world.

Once you know your Big Why, you’ll be able to put it in action by using Goal Setting to the Now. When we know what our purpose is, or what drives us, we can imagine a number of different ways that it can manifest itself. More often than not, if you spend some time brainstorming, your Big Why is going to translate into a Big Goal.

By using Goal Setting to the Now, you’ll be implementing a proven process that breaks down our big goals into smaller and more manageable pieces making living out your purpose a whole lot easier.

Ask yourself what you need to accomplish this year, this month, this week, and even today in order to achieve that big goal. When you can connect one small goal to the next, you’ll see the process in action. Think of each small goal as a domino that, when completed, will put you in a perfect position to knock over the next goal on your domino run.

You may feel like there isn’t much time left in this calendar year to accomplish something great, but we can assure you, when you take this approach and are focused about what you do, there’s plenty of time to get going.

How will you finish the final quarter of the year with a bang? Remember to sign up for The ONE Thing’s 2 Day Retreat for in-person instruction on how to plan for your future goals. Then, head to our Facebook page and let us know what you plan to do to finish the year strong in the comments section – we want to hear what your Goal Setting to the Now process looks like!
